DHR (Darjeeling Himalayan Railway)
Visit the DHR station in Darjeeling and book yourself a ticket to the heritage Toy Train. The Toy Train still runs through Darjeeling and the route is decided upon the conditions of the roads then. There are three DHR museums in Ghoom, Kurseong and Sukna which can also be visited for a brief knowledge of the heritage of the two feet narrow gauge Toy Train. The DHR has also been declared a UNESCO heritage site which must be preserved well.
The Mall and the Chowrasta
The Mall is one of the most visited places in Darjeeling which is situated in the epicenter of the beautiful Darjeeling. The U shaped road stretch is known for public gathering who go there to just sit down and relax in peace, sometimes doing nothing. The place is also known as Chowrasta and there are several places to get good food, handicrafts and some traditional souvenirs, to take back home.
The scenic Mirik
It is another major attraction in the Darjeeling hills that is well known for the beautiful Sumendu Lake. The natural lake in between the town is beauty beyond words and has beautiful surrounding on both sides. It is a delightful experience here and tourist can also try boating and canoeing at the lake along with adventure activities like trekking and hiking at its natural trails.
'Tiger Hill' the Sunrise spot
It is one of the highest summits of Darjeeling that is famous for its beautiful scene of the sunrise that shows different shapes of the sun as it ascends from the horizon. The tourist are to wake up at 4 am and reach at the Tiger Hill half asleep but the view from there is really awesome and worth the sleep that you must have sacrificed. The rays hitting the peaks and the changing of the colors are a sight no one should miss.
Lamahatta with fluttering prayer flags
It is one of the newest additions of the Darjeeling tourism which has gained much appreciation due to its beauty and serenity. About 7 km downhill from Ghoom, the place is very shady due to the clustered Pine Trees throughout the park and when you reach it, the fluttering Buddhist colorful flags is a sight very magical. It is also a good hangout destination for couples and also has a natural lake which can be seen after a trek of about 2 km uphill.
