Daywise Itinerary

1. Day 1 Bagdogra and drive to Kurseong 61 kms 2 hours approx.

   Assistance at the airport on arrival and drive to Kurseong.

   KURSEONG

   At a height of 1458m the land of the white orchid, Kurson-rip in lepcha, lies between Darjeeling and Siliguri. This tiny school town still hasn’t been discovered extensively. There are several soothing walks like the walk to Nagri Spur, with its stunning views of the tea gardens and forests.

2. Day 2 Kurseong to Darjeeling

   Morning visit the organic agricultural community at Woodcot
   Trek from Woodcot – Chimney (Main organic vegetable farm at 7,000 feet) and continue to Downhill Forest Museum.

   Later drive from Kurseong to Darjeeling

   DARJEELING:

   Standing high in the Himalayas at an altitude of 2134m, ‘Dorje Ling’, or place of the Thunderbolt, offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain peaks, with the Kanchendzonga rising higher than all the others. Often referred to as the “Queen of the Hills”, it remains just as alluring with its tiny waterfalls, little villages and a narrow gauge railway track.

3. Day 3 Darjeeling Full day sightseeing

   Early morning visit to Tiger Hill for sunrise carrying packed breakfast

   Hike back to the Darjeeling via Alubari Monastery and enjoy Picnic breakfast on the way back 13 kms 4 hours approx.

   Afternoon visit to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Zoological Park

   Evening option walk to Observatory Hill and Bhutia Basti Monastery

   Overnight at hotel

4. Day 4 Darjeeling –Pelling (110 kms 5-6 hrs approx.)

   After breakfast you will drive from Darjeeling to Pelling in West Sikkim.

   In the afternoon in Pelling take a hike to the Sanga Choling Monastery on the hilltop.

5. Day 5 Pelling – Yuksom

   Today you will take a hiking tour to Khechipalri Lake. This hike is for 18 kms where you will pass small water falls on the way. The sacred Khechipalrilake lies in a depression surrounded by prayer flags and forested hills.

   Vehicles will be provided to drive you to Yuksum from Khechipalri Lake

   Overnight at hotel

6. Day 6 Yuksom Full Day Sightseeing

   After breakfast walk to Dubdi Monastery and Back.

   Dubdi Monastery: This was the 1st Monastery established soon after the consecration ceremony of the 1stChogyal. The Monastery is located on a hill top above Yuksum surrounded by verdant forest.  It can be approached by trekking only, negotiating steep slope of something like 40 – 45 minutes.

   Afternoon walk in the village of Yuksum and visit to Coronation Throne.

7. Day 7 Yuksom – Tashiding – Yuksom

   Breakfast at the hotel and full day walk to Tashiding Monastery (05-06 hours) carrying packed lunch from the hotel

   TASHIDING:-

   Sikkim’s most sacred monastery is perched atop a conical hill. A mere glance at the monastery is believed to absolve one of all sins. Common sights around the Gumpa are mantra engravings.

   Built in 1716, Tashiding was described as the heart of “BayulDemazong”(Tibetan term for Sikkim) by Guru Rimpoche. The complex is also the location of the “ThogwaRogdol” Chorten. A mere glance of this sacred Stupa is said to wash away one’s sins. The monastery is also revered for the “Bumchu”festival during which the ‘Bumpa’ or vessel containing holy water is opened and a small quantity distributed to the devout. The origin of the water dates back to the time of Guru Padmasambhava in the 7th century and is said to contain sacred soil, water and precious jewels from all the holy places in India. The level of the water each year is considered the indicator of the times ahead for this land.

   Drive back to Yuksum by car

8. Day 8 Yuksom - Kalimpong

   Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Kalimpong

   Kalimpong is a quiet destination in the hills with pleasant weather round the year. It is because of the weather that Kalimpong has few of the best nurseries for orchid and cactus. In the afternoon you will be taken one of such nurseries and a monastery

9. Day 9 Kalimpong Full Day Sightseeing

   After breakfast you will be driven to Durpin Hill which is an observatory point from where you can see the lush green valleys intersected by the ice cold mountain ranges of Kanchendzongarivers such as the Teesta, Relli, Riang on one side and the sight of the plains on the other.

   From here begin walk to ChebuBasti seeing Teesta River flowing down the Valley on one side and Darjeeling on the other side..Chebu Village is surrounded by Cardamom Plantations, Seasonal Vegetable cultivation, Rice fields and Flower Nurseries

   Packed Picnic lunch at the village and later walk back to the hotel

10. Day 10 Kalimpong – Bagdogra/NJP

    After breakfast you will be driven to Bagdogra / NJP for your onward connection.
