June to September : It is one of the wettest seasons of the year when the rainfall can be continuous for days too. The rain also brings more beauty to the vistas of the region and also thickens the force of waters from the existing waterfalls. It may not be too preferable but it isn't such a bad idea too.

October to February : The winters as expected can be very chilling here but still the place also called as Abode of clouds, is dressed perfectly in clouds making the weather to romantic to be true. The least it can reach is 2°C but some woolen wear should make it just fine.


The closest airport would be the Umroi Airport which is around 25 km away from the main city but its poor connectivity with other Indian cities makes it comparingly less preferred. The people traveling to Shillong would prefer taking a flight to the Guwahati airport due to the availability of cab services and ease of services after reaching there. From there you may need to take the beautiful road to Shillong which is about 125 kilometers away. The road till Shillong is one of the most beautiful and you could take a private taxi to stop when you require. The closest railway station from Shillong is in Guwahati railway station which is about 100 kilometers away from Shillong but is well connected to major Indian railways stations throughout India.

Elephant Falls

Umiam Lake

Shillong Peak & View Point

It is one of the most scenic viewpoints where the panoramic view is splendid and breathtaking. Police Bazar

If you are a shopaholic and cannot resist no matter where you go, Police Bazar is the best place you must go. The place is a hub of major brands and shopping complex where you can try local cuisines, buy clothes, handicrafts and you will also find a cluster if average priced hotels for you to crash in. It is one of the busiest places in Shillong where you can find anything that you may be in need of. There are also a few Pubs which brighten the nightlife here.
